TESTIMONIALS for ILC
from teachers in New Zealand, Australia, the UK, USA... about the ILC model:

starstarstarstarstar

In my work in schools that are coming to terms with what a 21st century curriculum should look like in the classroom, teachers are finding these an exciting resource.... In using these books, teachers learn a great deal how to structure exciting learning activities around other concepts they and their students would like to explore.  This series of books is  a “Smart Tool”. By this I mean the series is based on sound theory, is very well designed and has a high probability of making lessons very engaging for teachers and students.
Cheers
Gael Donaghy (Leadership & Management Advisor, Secondary Schools)

I think your new resource is fantastic and would like to order a copy.
It so reinforces differentiated leaning and will be a very practical and useful resource for teachers to accomplish this. I also like the way it uses Jay McTighe's idea of Backward design where you focus on the big idea you want to have the students understand by the end of the unit.

The unit on Endangered Species looks good. I particularly like the way you begin with a mega concept in mind and relate this to questions the students can ask or can solve later in their study and apply to their world.
Although the outcomes themselves and some of the organisational frameworks are not used in WA schools, the unit could easily be adapted to suit our local curriculum requirements.
As I was reading through the unit I was thinking, "I hope they have resources at the end to make this easier for the teacher" and hey presto, the web resources were at the end of the unit to make life easier for the teacher.
I congratulate you on an excellent initiative to produce integrated problem based units for students and I would look forward to seeing more units being developed. I would suggest other units of global warming, terrorism, privacy and ICT, environmental sustainability, global community, careers just to name a few.
MF, WA

I think this resource is excellent, just what I would use as is suited to the GATE children, shows transfer and includes where it all fits into curriculum. I have spent hours in the past doing my own planning and finding suitable links online, this type of resource means it's all there for me and I can use my time enjoying the learning with the kids! It's managable over a realistic timeframe, has lots of great ideas but is also flexible enough for us to add to it and move off on tangents as these children like to do.

starstarstarstarstar
Even though I am not a classroom teacher ... I really like this enquiry learning approach for homeschooling purposes. My son is very bright and needs challenges. So a unit likes this really suits us as it throws up issues that don‚t necessarily have a right answer. I particularly like the TTE cards, the website links and the ideas for activities which I can use myself.

Dear Jean
Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou- that was so generous of you (to give us the free template for ILC)!
I have just printed the template off and came across the graphic thinker-OPV. It is just perfect for what I have been trying to teach my stage 1 students. On the weekend, I couldn’t think how to arrange it and then yours turns up! You have saved me so much time (and thinking).
Cheers
