GRAPHIC THINKER #5: SOLUTIONS
As stated in the previous Graphic Thinker 4, looking
at things from someone else's viewpoint is a higher-level thinking
skill which some people
never attain. Yet it's a skill that underpins all society - the ability
to "walk a mile in another's shoes". This Graphic Thinker
then is to get your students to:
• focus on 3 specific consequences
of a point of view,e.g. from GT#4 (looking for weaknesses, black
hat)
• Suggest several solutions for each (green
hat)
• Select possible solutions for further
investigation (strengths, yellow hat)
SEE BELOW for student samples of this graphic thinking organiser:
1. A blank one for you to try with your class if you wish (even pop it onto
a network at school...)
2. Sample of a junior student's response
3. Sample Y9 student's response.

"At my school we've had a big focus on the thinking
hats. I've found it challenging as it's something new to me...to incorporate
it into teaching and tasks. Thes Graphic Thinkers have made it easier
to incorporate such thinking into the classsroom."

"These are excellent!
I am the G & T co-ordinator for our school and am in charge of professional development for the year. I am giving
staff copies of some of your templates from the resources we have purchased
and the freebies online. They are finding them easy to use, practical
and a great resource to complement our inquiry learning model. Please
feel free to send us more!!"

"Hi
Thinkshop, I really appreciate getting the free graphic thinkers
every now and then. They are great in the classroom, and I guess
for you, as a company, they remind busy people like me, to check
in to see what else you have by way of resources. otherwise we
get busy and don't make the time to source new materials as often
as we could. Keep it up! Cheers" LM, New Zealand
